Images are an important class of data in life sciences. Extracting data from
images requires a combination from user interaction and processing algorithms.
I will present a modular approach based on open-source tools in order to build interactive analytical applications for quantitative image processing in life science applications. plotly, a visualization library, and Dash, a framework for analytical web applications, can be used for annotating images thanks to various drawing and annotation tools. Within a Dash application, such annotations are then used by algorithms from scikit-image, an image processing library or to build training sets from machine learning models.
